Gabriel Durand-Hollis III is a music teacher, composer, and performing percussionist with over 2 decades of musical experience. He is currently completing his Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from UTSA in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Gabe has performed with numerous marching, concert, orchestral, and live music groups all across Texas. As a tech, he has taught drumline and front ensemble percussion at schools around San Antonio such as Medina Valley HS (2015-2017), and O'Connor HS (2021-current) along with master classes and private lessons at NEISD schools.
As a student, Gabe began playing drums and percussion in middle school, and went on to perform with the Churchill HS marching band, jazz band, and UIL orchestra. He competed as a member of the Churchill HS drumline in the TCGC and WGI indoor drumline circuits, finishing 1st place at TCGC championships (2009) and 10th place at WGI national finals (2008). After graduating, he attended the University of Texas at Austin completing a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and spending 5 seasons in the Longhorn Marching Band.
Currently, Gabe spends his time working on his Composition degree at UTSA, teaching with the O'Connor HS front ensemble, and performing in the Alamo City Symphony Viva as well as his church orchestra at First Baptist Church of San Antonio. In addition, Gabe works as a freelance drummer for Howl at the Moon San Antonio, and for private events hosted at Merkaba.
